A sweeping descent into Great Shefford was rewarded by the second climb of the day, out of Eastbury and down the little used descent past the Boomerang stables and along to Cafe Bella in Ramsbury. It was nice to see Nicole, who had ridden out to see us and share a chat and a coffee. From Bella's we headed up Hilldrop lane for the day's third climb and a chance for Hugh (and everyone else) to get some mud on his new bike thanks to an even less used track over to Aldbourne. A fourth climb took us out of Aldbourne and down again to Lambourn before the familiar rise of Hackpen Hill delivered us back in the Vale and home. The lead group worked hard (at least I did!) to maintain an average of 23 kph and the following group also worked wonders to finish in good form. Thanks to Karen for leading the second group and to Robin and Dave for sweeping duties. | ||
