Tuesday 2* Evening Ride | 2* |
---|
Leader:John Tranter |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Weekly 1.5 hour rides at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly.Optional stop at The Fox in Denchworth at the end of the ride. This is a bridging ride at the upper level of the range to allow riders to gauge their pace and gain confidence to step up to the next star level. Just tweaking the hill count a little after last week - this time we go out through the Letcombes to Holborn Hill and then the more significant challenge of Hackpen Hill. Once we have enjoyed the views from the top, we will also enjoy the swooping descent to the south before switching back on the Seven Barrows road for a gentle run back up to the Ridgeway. A big drop down Blowingstone Hill is followed by the exhilarating technical descent of Kingston Lisle Hill. Then back through Goosey to the pub at Denchworth and/or back to Grove. 20 miles to the pub, 2 more to Grove. A good steady 12mph pace. |

A big group as a result and everyone seemed up for a little challenge to head up over the Ridgeway and back. Holborn and Hackpen Hills didn't seem to worry anyone excessively and the return leg up over Seven Barrows was despatched very easily. The big descents of Blowingstone and Kingston Lisle Hills were great fun and then we all headed for home and/or the throbbing Fox at Denchworth (throbbing with morris dancing as far as we could tell...)Also - three Rogers on one ride. That's got to be a new record! Thanks to all for your company and for a great ride! | ||
