CTC Oxfordshire Tri-Vets Century Ride 2016 | 3* |
---|
Leader:Steve Swanton |
Start Time:8:00 am |
Start Location:Islip Village hall |
Description:Are you aged 50 or over and fancy a challenge? CTC's triennial 100 mile rides for veterans - known as the Tri-Vets - date back to the organisation's golden jubilee year of 1928. Riders have up to 12 hours to complete a route and receive a certificate to commemorate their achievement. Once again CTC Oxfordshire will be hosting a Tri-Vets ride in 2016, one of at least 16 rides taking place during June and July all over the country. Our ride, which is notable for its WI catering and sociable character, will be held on Sunday 19 June starting from Islip about 5 miles north of Oxford. We run the Tri-vets as a group ride with riders split into 5 or 6 groups of about a dozen riders each with a local leader and sweeper. The groups start at 10 minute intervals from 8am, so riders can choose a faster or slower group. The route is a 100-mile tour of Oxfordshire passing through Otmoor, the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, the Thames Valley and the Vale of White Horse with refreshment stops at Wendlebury (coffee), North Leigh (lunch) and Steventon (tea). Although there are some climbs, the route is a relatively gentle 100. The entry fee is £15 and there will also be a charge of £15 for coffee, lunch and tea. To join us, please register through the Cycling UK website at http://www.cyclinguk.org/cycling-uk-tri-vets-rides-2016/. We will then send you further details of the ride and refreshment options. Our ride has always been popular and numbers are limited (to 72) so early registration is advisable. P.s As of 16 April we already have over 60 entries, so please don't delay booking if you are hoping to come. I've updated the link to the Tri-vets page on the Cycling UK website. Route now available - although similar to 2013, there are some variations, in particular to accommodate the new coffee stop in Wendlebury. |
