10 Mile Club 1* | 1* |
---|
Leader:Sara Ward |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way.Looking forward to a leisurely ride around a pleasant and flat local route. We will head out from OMH to Denchworth and then loop round through Lyford, Charney Bassett and back via Asti Stud. Pretty much exactly 10 miles (17km). Please remember to bring lights as the evenings are drawing in. |

One black cloud did its best to threaten us but we stayed completely dry! Along the route, the Paine family, shared tales of their recent cycle touring holiday in the Highlands and Islands - particular thanks to Ben who remembered an impressive list of the places they visited. We arrived back in Denchworth in good form and said farewell to those who were 'pausing' at the Fox for supper. Tony, Jessica, Phil and I returned to Grove before 8pm under possibly the best sunset sky of the season. | ||

Indeed a fitting end to the 1* Tuesday rides for another year - with the highest turnout of the season. Perhaps we should have end-of-season rides more often?! ;-) Thanks to all of those who have led or swept the rides this summer, and thanks to Sara who led her first ride for us this evening. Over the season we have had about 30 riders joining us on one or more occasions and as always the rides have been relaxed and fun. Don't forget that our easy rides continue throughout the year on the 3rd Saturday afternoon of the month. They are a great way to introduce family and friends to cycling. All are welcome. See you there! |
