Description:A shorter and easier off-road ride around local tracks, suitable for off-road beginners and those wanting to give it a go. Report:This was planned an easier ride for those wishing to try out the off-road experience. I was checking the weather forecast nervously as it approached. In the end there was no rain on the day, but a lot the day before. So there was plenty of mud and puddles for testing bike control skills and getting muddy!6 of us set off: 3 off-road regulars, 1 usually on-road rider testing out the mud, and 2 newcomers to the club. We went along a squishy Crab Hill and then up Goddards Brook. I normally try to plan loops, but this one was more out-and-back as that let people pick how far they wanted to go towards the Ridgeway. Based on different speed levels, we split and 4 went all the way up to the Ridgeway and down "Sheep Hill" (Middlehill Down on the map and no sheep today). The other 2 of us met up with them at them bottom of this big hill and we all rode back together. I think everyone enjoyed it, everyone got muddy, and no one got damaged - although Steve had a bit of a nettle encounter near the end! 11 miles for everyone, but 4 people could add 2 miles to that. | ||
