Tuesday evening 1* Ride | 1* |
---|
Leader:Steve Boreham |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way.Trip out via Stockham, Locks Lane, across to Route 44 to Lockinge, Betterton. Then back via Lanes Barns, before a stunning cut through to West Hanney, before returning via Denchworth. Round about 13 miles. |

Riders:Carin TranterDiana Whidborne Martyn Wigmore Naomi Merritt Steve Boreham Steve Swanton Susan Holdroyd Riders = 7 Weather:Report:Quirky variation on a theme tonight....Encountered "1 star regulars" who fancied the challenge of 2 star, then other 1 starrers who were open minded. Upshot was that it was decided that the 1 star "group" would tag along with the 2 star - on their route. This worked "well" until we left Grove! Some of the "1 stars" got held up behind cars (yes the cars held the RIDERS up!) and we lost the 2 star group who had sailed off in the distance not to be seen again. Not to be deterred, - it was a glorious evening - we carried on, reaching Baulking. Impromptu decision, due to the time, to "browse" in to the village, before curling back, via Park Lane, Asti Stud and home. The "spur of the moment" change from the billed route seemed to go down well - especially as it was less hilly! PLUS - we went FURTHER, so hats off all round! Thank you all for a lovely relaxed informal ride, and thanks to Steve S for great support. | ||

The event was kicked off by a 'cake' presentation to Karl, on the occasion of his 100th club ride this season, still just behind Des on the leaderboard! | ||

Then a mellow return via Baulking, Goosey and Denchworth.Secondary ride leader will be revealed..... |

Having a large van follow us up White Horse Hill was interesting! Always good to get a last trip up White Horse Hill as the nights are drawing in. | ||

Riders:Frank SchroerGraeme Dowson Jason Jones Pete Wrench Philip Ingles Sian Mitchell Riders = 6 Weather:Report:This being a ride that was originally planned for next week but then rescheduled for this one meant we had a bit more daylight, so as such a loop through Aston was added on the originally planned route.Phil joined us from Gainfield and left us at Stanford. At the turn at the end of Cow Lane just before Denchworth those that started from Wantage took a direct route home and the rest returned to Grove. The daylight started to just disappear by then so this was well timed. | ||
