Chairman’s Newsletter – March 2018

Posted on March 23rd, 2018

Hello everyone

Goodness me, what a miserable winter and spring so far! In our recent Committee meetings, we have been struggling to remember a year when we have had to cancel so many rides because of snow, ice, gales and general pestilence.

But, let me say something which will no doubt backfire horribly – let’s assume it is all over and spring is now finally here (I know – I’ve heard the Easter forecasts too…). In any event, it is worth pointing out that this weekend we do have two great rides, including the intriguing Witney Nifty Fifty on Sunday, and I’m sure you’re all desperate to get out cycling. The clocks do of course change on Saturday night, so please be careful not to turn up an hour late for that one!

I also want to highlight the fact that our Tuesday evening programme kicks off again on Tuesday 3rd April – in only 11 days time. It is going to be great to be back in that weekly rhythm with five rides going out from Old Mill Hall at 6.30 each Tuesday. As always, check the website for details. It is always good to welcome both new riders and regulars who are emerging, blinking, from cycling hibernation.

That’s about it for now – other than to mention that we had a very successful Ride Leaders meeting on 22nd February and also a couple of recent new Ride Leader training sessions so we have a really exciting crop of new Ride Leaders to add in to the existing mix. The rides calendar for the spring and summer season is well populated with leaders so my advice is to take a browse through the website and start to put rides on your calendars.

See you on a ride soon!

Best regards
John
